Feral Interactive has announced that it will bring Life is Strange: Before the Storm, the standalone prequel to Square Enix‘s 2015 sleeper hit Life is Strange, to Mac and Linux this spring.
Developed by Deck Nine, Before the Storm puts players into the shoes of Chloe Price, a rebellious sixteen-year-old who forms an unlikely bond with Rachel Amber, a popular student destined for success. But when Rachel learns a family secret that threatens to destroy her world, it is her newfound friendship with Chloe from which she drives strength. No longer alone, Chloe and Rachel must work together to confront each other’s demons and overcome them.
The “choice and consequence driven narrative” of Before the Storm was a hit on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Good news inbound, then, as all of the core components will remain intact:
- Multiple endings depending on the choices players make.
- ‘Backtalk’ is a risk/reward conversation mode that allows Chloe to use her barbed tongue to provoke or get her way.
- Players will make their mark on the world with witty tags and drawings.
- Players will choose Chloe’s outfit and see how people react to their look.
- Distinct licensed indie soundtrack and original score by Daughter.
“With its tough yet vulnerable protagonist, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a poignant evocation of teenage life,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “The atmospheric soundtrack, sharp writing and captivating story combine to create an engrossing and moving game, and we very are excited for macOS and Linux players to experience it.”
A deluxe edition of the game, comprising all three episodes and additional content including the bonus episode “Farewell”, will also be available upon release.
Haven’t taken the plunge on getting this yet but loved the first game. Is it worth it?
Cannot recommend enough! You’ll love it.
