Far Cry Primal, the next entry into Ubisoft’s blockbuster open-world franchise, is out now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it has been announced today. It is due for release on PC next month.

The game, originally announced back in October 2015, sees players enter into a world where sabretooth tigers and woolly mammoths rule supreme and they are at the bottom of the food chain.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Ubisoft Toronto, Shanghai and Kiev Studios, it promises “limitless adventure” and is the first Far Cry title to be released solely on the current generation of consoles, skipping Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Set during the Stone Age, Far Cry Primal takes players back to 10,000 BC. It is a time when man wasn’t sitting atop the food chain. A time when woolly mammoth and the sabretooth tiger ruled supreme. It will follow the story of Takkar, a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group. Upon arriving in the majestic and savage land of Oros, he will be faced with the bitterness of reality. In a world where humans are prey and there is but one goal – to survive.

Those who pre-ordered the game ahead of release or purchased the Far Cry Collector’s Edition will be treated to an additional 45 minutes of bonus content, dubbed the “Legend of the Mammoth.” It sees players take on the role of the mighty prehistoric beast itself through three exclusive missions.

Far Cry Primal is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, ahead of its release on PC on March 1. Be sure to catch the trailer below.
