Jonathan Blow’s The Witness will arrive on PlayStation 4 and PC in January, ahead of release on “other platforms.”

Braid was an utterly superb game. As such, we’re eagerly awaiting the release of Jonathan Blow’s The Witness, which will heading to PS4 and PC in January, as confirmed by today’s new trailer.

Originally announced back in 2009 and planned for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, this plan was later scrapped by Blow. Constraints with the hardware of the time, restricted his ultimate vision. It later sprung to life at Sony’s PlayStation 4 event in February 2013. Though initially presumed to be an exclusive, it was later confirmed that it would be coming to PC.

Though it will be available in January for both PlayStation 4 and PC, it will be available on “other platforms” including iOS “a bit later”, according to developer Thekla, Inc.

Inspired by Myst, we’re told that The Witness will allow players to explore an “enchanting new world from the creator of indie hit, Braid.” Hundreds of “puzzles to solve”, with each opening up more “brain-teasing mystery for you to overcome on an island full of surprises”, is promised.

The Witness is scheduled to release on PlayStation 4 and PC on January 26, 2016. There’s no confirmation as to whether it will launch in the United Kingdom and United States simultaneously, as yet.
