Sneak Peek of live-action Beauty and the Beast to be included as bonus with 25th Anniversary Edition of Disney’s beloved 1991 animated film.

Disney have announced – through a new promotional video – that the 25th Anniversary Edition of the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast will feature a sneak peek at its upcoming live-action counterpart.

Set to be released on Digital HD on September 6 and Blu-ray on September 9, it will include a bonus feature that delves into the creation of the forthcoming film starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans, among others.

Though the live-action re-telling of one of Disney’s most beloved animated films will be “staying true” to the original, it will refashion classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience. While, several new songs will be added to the score, it has been confirmed.

Based on the French fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, Beauty and the Beast tells the fantastical journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

A star-studded cast has been assembled to bring the film to life, with Emma Watson starring as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Lefou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.

Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards – for Best Original Score and Best Song – for his work on the original 1991 animated film, provides the score, which will feature new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, along with several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar-winner Tim Rice.

Directed by Oscar-winner Bill Condon and produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, Beauty and the Beast is scheduled to hit cinemas in the United Kingdom and United States on March 17, 2017.
