LEGO Dimensions: Everything you need to know about Level Packs

LEGO Dimensions Level Pack expansions promise some of the most extreme crossovers in video games we’ve ever seen.

As part of our series of in-depth guides for LEGO Dimensions, the forthcoming Toys-to-Life title from Warner Bros. Interactive and Traveller’s Tales, we will be taking a look at the Level Packs.

These add-on packs will offer up the most bang for your buck. They’re arguably the most content-packed expansions that will be available for LEGO Dimensions at launch and into the future. Priced at $29.99 / £26.99 they will include an exclusive level, minifigurine, vehicle and gadget.

Now, that’s not terrible value for money, when you think about it. Especially when the vehicle and gadget included can be rebuilt into a variety of additional contraptions – further cementing the Toys-to-Life concept.

As of the moment, there are currently 4 Level Pack expansions coming to the game – with 3 available at launch. So, there’s a small number of them, when compared to the fact there’s 35 Fun Pack add-ons already announced. However, we have no doubt that the developer is already hard at work on future expansion packs.

It is worth keeping in mind that some of the information surrounding some of them is a little light, as of the moment, but what we do know, is included in this list. We will endeavour to maintain it, as further details are released.

So, without further ado, let’s check them out. Read on below and be sure to click images for a larger preview of the content of each pack.

LEGO Dimensions Back to the Future Level PackLEGO Dimensions – Back to the Future Level Pack

I’m incredibly excited for this Level Pack, more-so than the others. Why? Well, because it not only includes the DeLorean Time Machine and Hoverboard, but a Marty McFly minifigure. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want that!

The pack will unlock the exclusive “A Hill Valley Time Travel Adventure” level, which sees Marty McFly travel back to 1950s Hill Valley in a bid to save Doc Brown.

We’re told that the DeLorean will be rebuildable into an Electric Time Machine and Ultra Time Machine, whilst the Hoverboard can be rebuilt into a Cyclone Board and Ultimate Hoverjet. As of the moment, the only confirmed ability for Marty McFly is Sonar Smash – but we suspect he’ll have more.

The Back to the Future Level Pack will launch alongside the release of LEGO Dimensions on September 29. We can’t wait.

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Level PackLEGO Dimensions – Doctor Who Level Pack

Want to play as all twelve regenerations of The Doctor? Then, this is the Level Pack that you’ll need to pick up. Not only does it include a minifigure of Peter Capaldi’s portrayal as the eleventh iteration of The Doctor, but it includes the Tardis and K-9 in brick form.

If that wasn’t enough, it unlocks the “An Adventure in Space and Time” level. In this story add-on, The Doctor discovers a hidden message in the memory bank of the Tardis – which has been left by his future self. It’s up to you to rewrite the future and save the day in this level, which is exclusive to the Doctor Who Level Pack.

The Tardis can be rebuilt into a Laser-Pulse Tardis and Energy-Burst Tardis, whilst players can rebuild K-9 into a K-9 Ruff Rover and K-9 Laser Cutter. It’s looking like this one will be worth picking up, when it arrives on November 3.

LEGO Dimensions Ghostbusters Level PackLEGO Dimensions – Ghostbusters Level Pack

Don’t cross the streams! We all know who to call in the event of a ghost infestation in New York City, don’t we? That’s right, the good old Ghostbusters. Those wanting to get in on the ghostbusting action in LEGO Dimensions should definitely look to pick up this Level Pack.

There’s little known about the level itself, other than its name, which has been revealed as “A Spook Central Adventure”. It will, as you’d expect, only be available in the Ghostbusters Level Pack. This, is of course, in addition to the Ghostbusters Adventure World, which comes standard with the Starter Pack across all platforms.

It will include minifigures of Peter Venkman, Ecto-1 and Ghost Trap. There’s no details on what the Ecto-1 or Ghost Trap will be able to be rebuilt into, as of yet. Though, it isn’t scheduled for release until January 19, 2016 – so there’s plenty of time left for the specifics to be revealed.

LEGO Dimensions Portal Level PackLEGO Dimensions – Portal Level Pack

I didn’t really expect to see Portal coming to LEGO Dimensions. That was a bit of a surprise announcement, for me, personally. But, it’s looking pretty damn awesome, I must admit. Even if, details are a bit scarce surrounding its contents, as of the time of writing.

We do know, however, that the Portal Level Pack will include an exclusive level, which is currently titled “A Portal 2 Adventure” and that it will include a minifigure of Chell, the Companion Cube and Sentry Turret.

A highlight of this pack for me is that Stephen Merchant and Ellen McLain will be reprising their roles as Wheatley and GLaDOS, respectively.

The Portal Level Pack for LEGO Dimensions is scheduled to launch alongside the release of the Starter Pack on September 29.

LEGO Dimensions The Simpsons Level PackLEGO Dimensions – The Simpsons Level Pack

Ready to journey to Springfield? Though you’ll still be able to interact with characters from The Simpsons in LEGO Dimensions, if you want access to Homer and an additional level, then you’ll need to pick up this Level Pack.

It features the exclusive “A Springfield Adventure” level, in which Homer consumes a plate of Chief Wiggum’s Guatemalan Insanity Peppers at the Springfield Chili Cook-Off, and needs your help to uncover the riddles of the Coyote and seek out his soul mate!

In addition to the Homer minifigure, The Simpsons Level Pack also includes Homer’s Car and the Taunt-o-Vision. We’re told that Homer’s Car can be rebuilt into the Homer Craft and Subma Homer, whilst the Taunt-o-Vision can be made into the Blast Cam and the MechaHomer.

It will be available alongside the release of LEGO Dimensions on September 29, across all platforms.

When is LEGO Dimensions out?

LEGO Dimensions is scheduled to launch on September 27 in the United States and September 29 in the United Kingdom for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii U. Be sure to check out the trailer below.
