Retail outlet GAME has announced that it’s soon set to offer a “huge range” of movies on both Blu-Ray and DVD.

Starting from May 13, a range of over 50 titles including such releases as Life of Pi, Argo, Kill Bill and Avatar will be introduced throughout GAME’s retail stores as well as online.

The firm has cited “successful” in-store trials with The Hobbit and Skyfall earlier in the year as the reason for extending its movie offerings.

“Gaming and movies go together hand-in-hand – you only need to look at the cinematic effects found in many games, along with how many games are based on films and vice versa, to understand how closely the two are related” said Charlotte Knight, Category Director for Game Retail Ltd.

“Introducing this range of movies is another big step towards delivering for every aspect of a gamer’s lifestyle. We’ve already had very encouraging performances on The Hobbit and Skyfall, and we’re confident that the time is right to extend our range. We’re really excited that our customers will be able to get their hands on their favourite movies both in-store and online.”

It’s yet to be seen if this will be part of the salvation of GAME, of who have been struggling through numerous problems over the past few years amidst the ever-expanding online market with the likes of Amazon, among others. In March of 2012, GAME entered administration and was later purchased by Baker Acquisition, a subsidiary company of OpCapita.

Though it formerly operated in the United Kingdom through both the GAME and Gamestation brands, the new owner made the decision late last year to focus purely on that of the GAME name.

Do you purchase your games from retail outlets or opt for the convenience of online? Will you purchase movies from GAME when they’re introduced this month? Let us know in the comments below.
