Donmar Warehouse has released the first look at Rory Keenan in Welcome Home, Captain Fox! which begins previews on February 18 before officially opening on March 1.

The new version of Jean Anouilh’s hit 1937 play Le Voyageur Sans Bagage by Anthony Weigh promises to be a “sparkling comedy of identity, lost and found.” The “riotous family drama” is set on the very tip of Long Island during a “long, hot summer” in the America of the late 1950’s.

Directed by Blanche McIntyre, who makes her debut at the Donmar Warehouse, Welcome Home, Captain Fox! will star an ensemble cast that includes Michelle Asante, Barnaby Kay, Rory Keenan, Katherine Kingsley, Trevor Laird, Sian Thomas, Danny Webb, Fenella Woolgar and Daniel York.

The comedy, taking place during the summer of 1959 as the Cold War rages on and America tunes into I Love Lucy!, Captain Jack Fox, believed to be missing in action in the fields of France 15 years before, is about to be reunited with his family in The Hamptons. The question on everybody’s mind, however, is if this is the real Jack Fox. And, if it isn’t, who is this man? And why are 22 other families so intent on claiming him as their own?

Weigh’s previous work for the Donmar includes The Silence of the Sea, as part of the Donmar Trafalgar season. His first full length play 2,000 Feet Away, made its debut at the Belvoir Street Theatre in Sydney, before opening in the United Kingdom at the Bush Theatre.

The production is supported by The John Browne Charitable Trust and features Design by Mark Thompson, Lighting Design by Hugh Vanstone and Sound Design by Gregory Clarke.

Welcome Home, Captain Fox! begins previews at the Donmar Warehouse on February 18, where it will enjoy a limited run until April 16. Matinee and evening shows are available for booking now and further information can be found on the official site.
