Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Sausage Party receives first trailer ahead of theatrical release on August 12.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has sent over the Red Band trailer for Sausage Party, the first R-rated CG animated film, which features the vocal talents of a who’s who of today’s comedy stars.

The film sees one sausage lead a group of supermarket products on an existential quest to discover the truth about what happens when they are chosen to leave the grocery store by a customer.

Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, Sausage Party is written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shariff. It is produced by Megan Ellison, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Conrad Vernon, whilst executive producers include Jonah Hill, James Weaver, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir.

Point Grey Pictures are producing, alongside Annapurna Pictures, who are co-financing the film with Sony. Vancouver-based Nitrogen Studios Canada will be handling all of the CG animation, design, production and post-production, it was previously confirmed.

“We’re thrilled to be back in business with Seth and Evan. This project has all the irreverent, insightful and risqué R-rated humor we have come to expect from them. Matching their unique comic sensibility with an animated film is a fun and inspired idea. We are confident Seth, Evan, Conrad and Greg will deliver one of the most memorable animated movies of all time” commented Hannah Minghella, during the announcement of the film.

The cast of Sausage Party includes Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek.

Sausage Party is scheduled for theatrical release in the United Kingdom and United States on August 12. Let us know in the comments below as to whether you’ll be catching this one when it’s released.
